Consultant Cardiologist

Dr Jonathan Sen is a consultant cardiologist at Premier Cardiology, The Wesley Hospital. His practice covers general cardiology, advanced cardiac imaging, heart valve disease, and cardio-oncology. He is one of only a handful of fellowship-trained cardio-oncology specialists in Queensland.

Dr Sen completed his PhD in Medicine (Cardiology) at the University of Melbourne and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, supported by Australia’s two most competitive doctoral scholarships in cardiovascular research: the NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship and the National Heart Foundation Health Professional Scholarship. His research applied artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve risk prediction in aortic stenosis, and he received the Baker Institute’s Paul Korner Medal, its highest award for research excellence. He remains a clinical affiliate of the Baker Institute.

Following advanced cardiology training in Queensland, he undertook a dedicated cardio-oncology fellowship at the University Health Network and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada, supported by a Hold’em for Life Oncology Fellowship. There, he managed cardiovascular complications across a broad range of cancer therapies, including immune checkpoint inhibitors, anthracyclines, and radiation.

Dr Sen provides specialist heart care across Brisbane for patients with coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and valvular heart disease, with particular expertise in echocardiography and multimodality cardiac imaging. For patients undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment, he provides cardiac risk assessment, monitoring, and long-term cardiovascular care. His research, published in over 25 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals, directly shapes how cardiologists around the world manage these conditions, and he has trained and supervised over 250 medical students, junior doctors, and cardiology trainees throughout his career.
